SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish Massage Also known as Western massage, is the most common massage technique in United States (introduced in the 1850s) and in several parts of the occidental world. It is a dynamic therapy of long strokes, friction and compression, designed to invigorate the body by stimulating the flow of blood to the heart.

Swedish massage is based principally in a combination of five strokes, all related to the circulatory system. These strokes help to manipulate the muscles and connective tissues of the body. Therapists apply circular movements on superficial layers of injured tissue using massage lotion or oil to diminish friction on the skin. The patient wears a sheet during the session with only the area being treated on exposed.

The benefits of Swedish massage include: integral relaxation, removed waste products from the tissues, improved circulation, pain and tension relief, nourished muscles, rehabilitation and overall health maintenance and well-being.

Swedish massage is one of the softest massage methods for therapists and clients, due to it does not involve deep-tissue work. In fact, as a gentle and relaxing experience, it could be the best option if patient has never had any type of massage.
