TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger Point Therapy This technique uses ischemic compression at specific areas (trigger points) of hypersensitivity in muscles, ligaments and tendons. These trigger points are distinguished by local pain, tightness, and tenderness. They hardly ever refer pain to other areas of the body.

Therapists try to recognize first the patientís trigger points, and then apply steady, proper pressure to the point to "liberate" it. A soft massage to the adjacent areas follows regularly to eliminate the origin of the pain. After the session, clients are encouraged to drink high quantities of water to remove the residual toxins and waste products.

This therapy helps to release endorphins, and mitigates muscle tension and aches caused by sports injuries, accidents or surgeries. Trigger Point Therapy is strongly related with Neuromuscular Therapy and some specialists consider both as just one.
