MASSAGE AND CELLULITE

Massage and Cellulite Cellulite is a condition that affects many women, but also men. There exist many effective massage treatments for this ailment like manual lymph drainage, Sweedish massage combined with shiatsu or deep tissue massage, lypossage and ayurveda. The treatments are usually accompanied with essential oils, herbal products and electrical pulses to stimulate the cells and leave the skin light and silky.

Cellulite is an ailment where the skin of the abdomen, lower limbs, and pelvic region becomes dimpled. It is generally produced by weak connective tissue that allows the invasion of fatty cells into the epidermis causing the recognizable appearance of the ailment on thighs and butt. Therapies are orientated to help strengthen the connective tissue of this body’s areas.

Particular forms of massage may reduce lymphatic conditions, eliminating the accumulated fluids. Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic motion massage that stimulates the activity of the lymph nodes and accelerates the flow of lymph to improve metabolism, promote the removal of bodily toxins and waste, and encourages a healthy immune system. This therapy is ideal for cellulite and could also be applied in body's swollen areas.

A healthy diet is very useful reducing cellulite and improving related-lymph functions such as its circulation and blood flow. However, diet doesn't heal the ailment directly, but it is great preventing it, aside from cleansing the body.

Diet should include foods rich in protein fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Following there is a list of the best:
    • Fresh fruits: apples, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, cantaloupe melons, cranberries, grapefruit, grapes, kiwifruit, mango, oranges, pineapple, raspberries, and strawberries.
    • 8-10 glasses of mineral water plus a glass of hot water with a squeeze of lemon a day.
    • Veggies: artichokes, bell-peppers, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, fennel, leeks, onions, salad leaves, spinach, and tomatoes.
    • Unsalted nuts: almonds, cashews and walnuts.
    • Seeds: sunflower, flaxseeds, poppy seeds and pumpkin seeds.
    • Herbs and spices: chilli, chives, garlic, ginger, mustard and parsley.
Other good options to deal cellulite are: wear special body wraps (including tights and panties) that stimulates microcirculation and permits drainage of fluids; use massage machines that employ rolling cylinders to deliver a deep massaging treatment; and get one of the numerous surgical excisions and suction treatments like Liposuction, Mesotherapy or Endermologie.

Note that cellulite is not the same than cellulitis which is a chronic condition. Excessive massage on cellulite areas can damage severely the tiny capillaries.
